Who we are

Sundae Situation is a South African ice cream brand currently in pre-launch. For any privacy-related query, please get in touch with us directly.

What we collect

At this stage, we collect very little — our pre-order form only asks for your email address.

• Email address — collected when you submit the pre-order form, so we can notify you when Sundae Situation launches.
• Basic technical data — standard information like browser and device type, collected automatically by our hosting provider to keep the site running.
• Anything you send us directly — such as an email to our contact address or a message via social media.

We don't collect payment information, physical addresses, or ID numbers — no payment is taken at the pre-order stage.

Why we collect it

• To notify you when Sundae Situation launches and pre-orders can be fulfilled
• To send occasional updates about flavors, launch timing, or founding-batch availability
• To understand how many people are interested, which helps us plan our first production batch
• To respond to any questions you send us directly

We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Legal basis for processing

Under POPIA, we process your email address on the basis of your consent — you gave it to us voluntarily by submitting the pre-order form. You can withdraw that consent at any time; see "Your rights" below.

Who we share it with

We use Formspree to receive and store submissions from our pre-order form. Formspree only processes this data on our instructions and isn't permitted to use it for its own purposes. We don't share your information with any other third party for independent marketing use, and we will never sell your email address.

Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

• Ask us what personal information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate information
• Ask us to delete your information, including unsubscribing from any communications
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
• Object to how your information is being used
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we've handled your data unlawfully

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us directly and we'll act on your request. Every marketing email we send will also include an unsubscribe link.

Data retention

We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed to our pre-order list, or until you ask us to delete it. If Sundae Situation doesn't launch, or you unsubscribe, we'll delete your information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain it for legal reasons.

Cookies

This site does not currently use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics. If that changes in the future, we'll update this section and the "Last updated" date above.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal information we hold from loss, unauthorized access, or disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

This site and our pre-order list are intended for adults aged 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Sundae Situation grows — for example, once we begin taking payments or shipping orders. We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever we make changes.
